Bespoke WordPress Theme

I was immensely fortunate to spend much of late January and February 2016 with the wonderful team at Clinic, a Farringdon-based creative agency. My brief was to work on two projects, the first of which was the development of a bespoke WordPress website for the agency itself.

The project was a challenge but I am deeply proud of the results. A highly-visual, well-designed and engaging front-end has been realised with a simple and intuitive dashboard that allows for easy ongoing management for more and less technical members of the team going forward.

Clinic Design Mockups

The website is fully responsive and subtly alters the levels of interactivity and visual display depending on the limitations of the device/screen size at each stage. It was a challenge to ensure the same website would look and work perfectly at every screen size from 320px wide at iPhone5 to 1900px+ on the largest desktops but the design easily allowed for this.

Technically, the build involved a range of WordPress capabilities:

  • The creation of a Work custom post to allow easy back-end management for this crucial part of the website
  • Ample use of custom fields to provide deep customisability of all pages and posts
  • Many CSS3 transforms and transitions to provide a high-end yet creative feel. This was especially important in the sliding menu to take advantage of hardware acceleration

I really enjoyed working with and getting to know the Clinic team on this and the CEG project - they’re genuinely lovely people and create beautiful designs that inspire me to create my best possible code. I hope to work with them again in the future.
