Early in 2017 I had the opportunity to work with the great team Playgroup, based down in Southwark, for the development of a new website for Sea Containers Events - a beautiful series of managed event spaces in the Sea Containers building on the Southbank.
This project was one of my favourites as everything just flowed. It was a great design, with a real luxury feel, and it was a happy challenge to try and develop these into code.
A great project is one where I get to try new things, and I was able use some different features and approaches on this one, such as:
- Using ACF’s page-link and post-object functionality to make it super easy for the client to place blog posts in key parts of the website, and create lots of inter-linking pages
- I’ve been tinkering with WordPress’ Customiser for a while now and this was a project where I took full use of it, making all parts of the footer, header and floating sidebar all easily editable from a single place in the back-end
- I’m still getting used to the capabilities of SVGs and in this project we created an interactive map of all the various spaces, which was a fun headache - you can see it live here: http://seacontainersevents.co.uk/spaces/
I adore working with brilliant creative and branding agencies, especially when they are as capable and friendly as the Playgroup team, so this was a great experience for me.
